I wouldn't say small, but it's only a hurdle, yeah.
How many....hurdles are left?
I'd say they're more like speed bumps now. We're almost all set for Jan 1 2013.
It sounds soo far away!
Just needs to pass through the senate, I think, which is likely.

At least we took a step forward then.

After that, it's law right?

Kinda feel like it's beating a dead horse now as the most of the gaming industry has moved on from bringing out controversial game after another.

What was the last game that even got refused classification?

Last one I can think of is mortal kombat
Syndicate was released last month overseas, RC here so we'll never get to play it.

If it passes the Senate, then its law. The Greens and Coalition have backed it in the past, so chances are we're set for it to become official.

Just so everyone knows:

An R18+ rating won't mean the end to RC. A game that has been classified as RC needs to be resubmitted, which is up to the publisher.

I still think we'll see RC.

Definitely. It'll really just mean that a lot of games that are currently MA will become R, like COD, Battlefield etc which carry an 18+ rating in the UK.

Although it should stop the stupid bannings like Mortal Kombat.

Probably in the most extreme cases I think. I wonder what happens if you import RC games though? Like, games that most likely won't get resubmitted due to their age.
so when is Australia goin to legalize R-18+ games for retail sale at stores such as Kmart or Eb Games?
