- Crytek launching social gaming network
- Gface allows friends and rivals to play causal or hardcore 2D or 3D games
- Will be cross platform, beta invitations open now
Crytek have long been known as a cutting edge, hardcore technology developer, which is why it was so surprising to hear that they are launching a browser-based, social gaming platform.
Gface is a cross-platform social network designed for friends and rivals to play casual or hardcore, 2D or 3D games with one another. Using a plugin known as the "Seed Engine", Gface will allow gamers to have access to installation-free, streaming gameplay over a variety of platforms.
The website depicts gamers on PC's playing along with those on mobile phones and tablet devices, however this isn't your typical casual game shout-out. They show an interesting example where mobile users would be commanding airstrikes on a battlefield, PC gamers would be the soldiers, and tablet gamers would be the commander. If it works just like this, hardcore gamers could be getting very excited about the service.
Currently in limited beta, anyone can sign up for an invitation by clicking here.
